Certified Lactation Educator:
Certified Lactation Educators are qualified to teach families about preparing for their infant, how lactation works physiologically, common challenges to expect, and other general lactation support. Lactation should be part of prenatal education and continue during postpartum as needed to assist with any challenges.
Postpartum Navigator:
Postpartum Navigators help parents create a postpartum plan and navigate their postpartum time. They offer emotional and informational support, acting as a hub, connecting parents to the resources they need. Postpartum Navigator work in their own communities and recognize that maternal health is multifaceted and supported by health, social, and cultural solutions. They help parents develop a postpartum plan which is an outline of how a family will have rest, support, and care after their baby arrives. This planning process helps parents create the conditions that support recovery and bonding, improving breast/chest feeding rates and improving mental health
